Project Background

JOBON provides high-precision vibration reduction solutions for Sullair centrifugal compressors

JOBON was engaged by a certain brand to provide professional vibration damping system design and product support for severe vibration issues observed in its TRX series centrifugal air compressor installed on a concrete mezzanine floor at Knowles Electronics' new Xiangcheng plant. As a core power source for the production line, the excessive vibration not only affected the equipment's operational stability but also induced floor resonance, causing safety concerns among workers on the lower level and posing long-term structural risks, which had halted on-site construction.

Problem Diagnosis & On-site Inspection

Our engineering team conducted a detailed on-site assessment and confirmed that the equipment was an integrated structure with the motor directly coupled to the compressor. The original support system failed to isolate vibrations at the operating speed of 3000 RPM (50 Hz), transmitting vibrations through the base into the floor structure and triggering overall resonance. This issue severely compromised equipment reliability, personnel safety, and normal plant operations.

Solution & Core Technology

Based on precise dynamic modeling and systematic analysis, we proposed a customized low-frequency vibration isolation solution. Calculations indicated that to achieve effective vibration isolation, the natural frequency of the damping system needed to be strictly controlled within the range of 3.15–3.59 Hz, significantly lower than the equipment's operating frequency. This design ensures vibration isolation efficiency >99.4% under rated conditions, fundamentally preventing vibration transmission to the building structure.

Implementation & Product Configuration

According to simulation results, we supplied a precisely matched set of rubber vibration isolators, including: MT1000 (1 unit), MT1440 (1 unit), MT2800 (1 unit), and MT1200 (5 units). In collaboration with the contractor Suzhou Sujing Technology Co., Ltd. and its subcontractor, we executed the following standardized installation procedure:
  • Disconnect all associated pipelines from the equipment to isolate the system.
  • Lift the equipment using jacks and support it temporarily with wooden blocks.
  • Excavate eight 300 × 300 × 95 mm foundation pits at predetermined installation points to accommodate the isolators.
  • Install the isolators, lower the equipment into position, and complete welding for fixation.
  • Reconnect all pipelines and proceed with system commissioning.

Results Verification & Follow-up Impact

After the retrofit, a joint on-site test was conducted by IHI-Sullair's technical team, foreign engineers, and relevant management personnel. The measured data aligned closely with theoretical predictions, completely eliminating floor vibrations, significantly improving personnel safety perception, and restoring smooth equipment operation. This successful collaboration established a foundation of long-term trust between JOBON and international compressor manufacturers such as IHI-Sullair and Ingersoll Rand, leading to multiple subsequent in-depth collaborations in similar scenarios. This case fully demonstrates JOBON’s end-to-end technical service capabilities—from  on-site diagnosis → system modeling → product customization → installation guidance → results verification —providing professional and reliable elastomer solutions to help customers achieve safe, stable, and efficient production environments.
